Hansel is a large member of the clan with a childlike demeanor - he is an enormous simpleton. Like Ruby from the first film, he is totally against what his family is and tries to help normal people when they are in danger. Hansel is the third son of Papa Hades.
In the alternate ending it is revealed that Hansel was in on his family members' plan all along, and when the three survivors escape the mines, he is waiting for them, laughing while eating a human body part, telling them to "Run away!", as if he were distracting them, much like he did at the beginning of the film when he distracted a scientist, as Letch put an axe through the scientist's head. The filmmakers probably edited out this ending at the final cut, thinking Hansel shouldn't be evil as his family.
